The Surprising Difference between Good Fat and Bad Fat
Good Fat and Bad Fat
Are there really such things as good fat and bad fat? And if so, what would be the difference between the good fat and bad fat?
Conditioning
We’ve been bombarded with the idea that just about all fat is bad for you for decades now. Everybody should be on a low fat diet because fat is only good for making foods more delicious, right?..
… This is why food manufacturers, largely at the instigation of governments, have been working assiduously for many, many years to come up with tasty fat and cholesterol alternatives, like hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated vegetable oils and margarines.
Efforts
Well…these efforts in our fight between good fat and bad fat really don’t seem to be working, do they? Over the last few decades, modern society has become fatter and more diabetic than ever…
… Is it because too many people are just stubborn and don’t want to switch away from fatty foods?
No… Because these “fat replacement” foods are huge sellers. People are buying them up and eating them left, right and centre.
The fact is that fat is not inherently bad or unhealthy for you at all. Fats have always been a staple of all diets, everywhere. Our bodies need fat, because after we burn off our glucose stores we have fat as the next source of energy for mental and physical processes.
Normal Bodily Functions
The human body always burns away the three basic nutritional components of energy in this order: glucose; fat; and, finally, protein. If you burn through the glucose and don’t have enough fat to burn next, your body starts burning protein…
… What this means for you is that your own muscle mass is getting burned away. High energy people and athletes eat a lot of protein in order to rebuild their muscles and keep their organs healthy because they know that they will burn through their fat stores quite often.
Adequate Diet
If you don’t eat sufficient amounts of fat, your brain power will diminish. You could also develop an unhealthy heart, because fat and cholesterol (which is made from fat) are your heart’s two main sources of food…
… Indeed, cholesterol is so important to your health that if you don’t have enough of it, your body starts making its own! Without enough fat consumption, your energy levels will diminish, and even your sex life or fertility could suffer. Your body will also not be able to efficiently absorb nutrients from foods.
No, the problem we face isn’t fats. It’s ignorance about the difference between good fat and bad fat.
Good Fat and Bad Fat
To put it succinctly, good fat is natural fat, and bad fat is actually that stuff that has been lab-produced in order to replace (without loss of taste) all that good fat!..
… “Trans-fats” are truly terrible for you. In other words, trying to replace most of the fat and cholesterol in the human diet is actually part of the disease that the activity purports to be curing…
… High fructose corn syrup, the ubiquitous and cheap sugar replacing ingredient, can also be considered a type of bad fat, because research proves that it causes very unhealthy fatty tissues to form around your vital organs. It’s just another lab-created natural food replacement doing harm!
However, there is one other way that we can define “bad fat”, and that is an amount of some of the good fats that is too high in the bloodstream and cellular tissues. Today’s unbalanced diets and sedentary lifestyles are resulting in there being far, far too much Omega-6 fatty acids and LDL cholesterol in our blood. Too much of a good thing is a bad, unhealthy thing.
Action
So, how can you take steps to essentially eliminate the dichotomy between good fat and bad fat in your body these days?
- Avoid processed foods containing trans-fats, hydrogenated oils, and high fructose corn syrup.
- Cook with real butter instead of margarines, and with coconut, seed, or olive oils instead of corn or vegetable oils.
- Get more healthy exercise.
- Get more Omega-3 fatty acids.
As to how to get more of the Omega-3 fatty acids into your diet, you could eat a lot more oily, cold-water fish. But what if you don’t care that much for fish or find trying to get it cumbersome?
… What many people like you are doing these days is taking fish oil capsules instead of worrying over eating more fish.
After much research, we have found a fish oil supplement worth recommending which can offer the many benefits of omega 3…
… The product we personally use is produced by Xtend-Life Natural Products and is arguably one of the highest quality molecularly distilled fish oil supplements on the market today. It is called Omega 3 DHA Fish Oil…
